WHAT: A gala weekend of services and events at Temple Aaron to commemorate the building’s 130th anniversary and celebrate its future!!

WHEN:  June 21-23, 2019.

Schedule of Events:

​

Friday, June 21:

​

6 pm: Temple doors open and ticket pickup begins.

7 pm: Shabbat Service with Kiddush and live music to follow, with Beth Cohen and fellow musicians. 

​

Saturday, June 22: The main event!

• 9:45 am: Shabbat Service officiated by Beth Cohen

• 11:00-12:45: Public ceremony for the unveiling of a new historical marker donated by the Jewish American Society for Historic Preservation. This will be outdoors and will include honored speakers, music and light refreshments (this portion free and open to the public, all other events require advance ticket purchase).

• 1:00 - 2:00: Jewish Storytelling by Cherie Karo Schwartz, renowned Jewish storyteller - appropriate for all ages!

• 4:00: Screening of film “Raise the Roof.”  Sponsored by the New Mexico Jewish Historical Society and Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival

• 6:00: Havdalah Service, Buffet Dinner by amazing chef Alys Romer, and live music. Note: as of 6/21/19, dinner registrations are closed. The price for the full weekend of events has changed to $100 without dinner rather than $130 with dinner.

 

Sunday, June 23:

10 am: Farewell Bagel Brunch.

WHERE: Temple Aaron, 407 S. Maple Street, Trinidad, CO 81082 (five minutes from I-25)

WHO: All those wishing to celebrate Jewish tradition in Trinidad!!! We have plenty of room in the Temple’s beautiful 200-person sanctuary!

​

COST:

• Entire weekend: $100 -- as of 6/21/19, we regret we can not accept additional reservations for the buffet dinner Sat. eve. However you are welcome to attend all other events.

• Friday and Sunday: $54 each day

• Just Saturday: $72. 

 

Tickets are required for all events other than the marker dedication ceremony. (Tickets will be available online soon.)

WHY: We have much to celebrate! There is renewed energy and momentum to save this magnificent synagogue which is so important to the Jewish history of our region. We have raised over $75,000 in the last 18 months. But much work remains to be done. The building needs substantial repairs and an endowment fund to ensure that it remains in Jewish hands forever. By marking this milestone anniversary, we hope to keep raising awareness about Temple Aaron and continue our fundraising efforts.
